Whether you are new to the church or you’ve been around for a while, there are many ways to get involved at Alaska Baptist Church. Getting involved is a great way to get to know others and fellowship with the church family while serving the Lord. We encourage members to use their God-given talents for the glory of Jesus Christ. The areas mentioned below are just some of the ways that one can get involved.
Our “Kids for Christ” program often needs helpers. Yes, helpers. We usually aren’t looking for teachers or song leaders but simply adults who can provide help during be “Kids for Christ” time. The church follows child safety rules in having multiple adults present during the children’s time period. If you can commit for one week or many, this might be a way for you serve the Lord Jesus.
Meals are provided by volunteers from the church to those who’ve encountered unusual life circumstances. Those receiving a meal might be someone who just had a baby, surgery, cancer treatment or someone in Hospice care.
A warm, safe, clean, loving environment is provided for all infants, birth through age three, during the 9:30am Morning Worship Service and 11:00am Sunday School hour. We are often looking for qualified adults to care for these sweet babies and toddlers. To be qualified, one must take a child safety class (provided by the church).
Possibly you are more of a behind-the-scenes type of person. If so, that’s perfectly OK, as service to the Lord Jesus Christ comes in many forms. You could help serve cookies during a kids program or help with washing dishes or doing other tasks in the kitchen.
There are three separate areas in this team: running the Powerpoint slides for the service, manning the sound board during the service and addressing the video taping/live streaming of the Sunday church service. We train anyone who’s willing and interested in serving in this area; no experience required.
We’re a close bunch at Alaska Baptist and we want to make sure everyone feels welcomed when they visit. Those who serve as greeters at our doors on Sundays make sure everyone gets a “hello” and/or a “good morning.” They also help visitors with directions and answer questions they may have.
